What happens when my computer crashes?
Multiple things can happen to make a computer to crash. Here are some of the signs that may indicate a computer crash:
- Computer Freezes
- Mouse Doesn't Move
- Keyboard Doesn't Move
- Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD)
- Computer Boots With Blank Screen
- Computer On Stand By Or Hibernate
If you are experiencing any of these computer problems and you don't know what to do, here are few tips for you to try.
Have You Rebooted Your System?
To reboot your system, simply shut down your computer then turn it back on after about 30 second.
If on stand by or hibernate unplug it, leave it off for 10 seconds.
We recommend disabling hibernate mode on all computers through the control panel, power options:
- Start -> Control Panel.
- Double-click the Power Options icon.
- Within the Power Options Properties window, click the Hibernate tab.
- Uncheck the "Enable hibernation" checkbox to disable the feature, or check the box to enable it. This window also displays the total space required for hibernation.
Are you infected with spyware or a computer virus?
Computer Spyware, Virus, or Malware may be slowing down your computer. To check if this is the case you could run a virus scanner
and spyware sweep. If neither of these turn up anything, you should try
running them again while your computer is in safe mode.

Have You Unplugged Everything That is Connected to Your Computer?
If you computer seems to have crashed, try unplugging your printers, faxes, and anything else that is plugged in to your computer. Then reboot your computer.
Have You Backed Up Your Computer Lately?
It is highly recommended that you frequently backup the data on your computer. You can backup your computer with an external hard drive that acts as a portable safe, storing all of your files and basically making a copy of your computer (just in case something does go wrong). We recommend off-site backup using Gemini or an external hard drive with Acronis.
