Computer Virus

Do you think that you might have a computer virus...

Getting a virus can be a humongous pain.

So first things first...

Virus Prevention

The first step to not getting a computer virus is to assure you're protected.

Prevention is the #1 thing that you can do to protect yourself against computer viruses!

If you don't want to have to worry about it, then our Managed Anti-Virus Protection is an excellent solution for you!

However, if you want to assure you're protected, you'll want to install (and assure you're updated!) an Anti-Virus Suite such as:

The second method for prevention is educating yourself about the different kinds of viruses and how to avoid getting them. A few quick pointers are:

  • Look for suspicious files in email and delete them.
  • Only open files from trusted sources.
  • Don't go onto web sites that you don't trust - one click on a malicious pop-up and you could get infected!

These quick tips can save you from major headaches.

You've got a Virus, now what?

You know that you have a virus, so what should you do?

Well here's what you should do:

  • Run your anti-virus program. (If you don't have one, get one immediately!)
  • After your anti-virus has run, tell it to quarantine the problem files.
  • Then it should ask if you want to delete the quarantined files, do it.
(These last 2 steps may be automated)

If this doesn't solve your problem then you probably have a relatively new computer virus and within a few virus definition updates you should have a fix.   You'll want to tell your virus program to "update now", and then rerun the anti-virus scan.
