Computer Will Not Boot

My computer won't turn on, what should I do?!?!

Don't Panic!

There are a number of reasons why you computer might not be turning on:

  • Your monitor is off or broken
  • Your computer has entered sleep mode
  • Your computer has come unplugged
  • Your surge protector is unplugged or broken
  • A fuse has blown in your house

We'll run you through a few quick steps to try and solve your problem.

  1. Turn you computer monitor off and on again. If you computer monitor is unresponsive it is either broken or unplugged.
  2. Press the space bar on your keyboard, your computer may simply be in sleep mode.
  3. Check all of the power cables connected to you computer/monitor, make sure they are all connected.
  4. Check that your surge protector is on and plugged into the wall (If you don't have a surge protector you should probably invest in one)
  5. Go and make sure that the fuse to your room has not blown out.

These may seem like overly simple things to check but you'd be surprised at how often a simple solution, such as listed above, will solve your problem.

If none of these tips worked, it's most likely that your computer has a more serious problem.
